WBR is live with Maryam Moshiri who presented the 1130 bulletin, so the strike isn't affecting the Business unit.
I saw that too - are the technical personnel that would run the show part of the strike?
No, it's NUJ journalists who are contracted to BBC World News.
I'm never sure of which is which. Sometimes here in the states production employees are covered by a union for journalists while others are covered by NABET.
I'm surprised that the NC are still even referring to what time it is. All the news is centred around the UK so it's not like they are trying to cater to a world audience. Maybe this is the NC way of saying to the BBC "We are NOT BBC WORLD News" and therefore highlighting the need for two separate channels after all
I noticed that the news paper review that goes out at 5:45BST is labeled as off air for WN viewers. Wonder what will be put up a test card or a message? I imagine they could fit in a few of those mini episodes of shows like Click and The Travel Show.
I'm glad the BBC News Channel are sticking to their guns leading with what would be niche stories to a world audience (Birmingham accident). Shows what disaster would happen if they do indeed merge.
It doesn't surprise me at all that the NC is carrying on as normal.
Although other BBC journalists aren't on strike, they'll be supporting their World colleagues' action by refusing to pick up work left undone due to the strike, and by just carrying on with their usual daily NC tasks as usual - hence the channel's output will not change.
And those staff who are working for BBC World News in DC/New York and Singapore today will only be covering their normal duties, so expect US and Asian centric bulletins later.

Looking forward if Newsday is solely from Singapore.
The NC has been timing things a little bit more with WN in mind - at the end of the 4pm hour there was an awkward 'You've been watching BBC News... My name is Maxine Mawhinney... Goodbye for now...... Time for a look at the weather, here's bla bla', presumably as they waited to hit the point where World opts out so they could go to a UK forecast.
World also had the first 25 mins of the BBC News at 5. Simon McCoy signed off with "You're watching BBC News" which went straight into a world weather bulletin from Sarah-Keith Lucas without a bumper.
WBR is live with Tanya Beckett (and presumably back at 8pm) and Sport Today is live.
