I saw that one and rolled my eyes. RSS scrapers or not, that sort of drivel does nothing for the viewers, or the impression of the BBC that there is someone actually watching what is crawling on the ticker.

Another question appeared on it this morning. 'Are cockpits too secure'

I dunno. You are the broadcaster - you get your transport or security correspondents to tell me Rolling Eyes

Of course if the website was posting content with informative headlines rather than borderline clickbait it would be less of an issue...

Once again BBC World becomes a sailing competition channel for a day. Shocked

Meanwhile riots in Belgium that you can watch live on CNN. Wink

Looks like one of those rare commercial decisions to show the Boat Race to an international audience instead of rolling news.

Sailing? Surely you mean rowing?

I thought that broadcast rights to sporting events were sold on a country-by-country basis. So how would BBC World News get the rights to a sailing competition?

As pointed out, it's Rowing .

Presumably the Boat Race is of little interest abroad (or even much beyond the end of the M11 and M40) so
with no clash of other rights holders to worry about, BBC World have an open field ?

It's ROWING ...

And given that it is between two British Universities (the same two every year), and is as much about tradition as sport, it's presumably there as a service to 'ex-pats' as much as for the sport. Exciting Thames this year too.

Especially with Cambridge winning the men's boat race. Wink

Was BBCWN simulcasting NC from Studio B (3 screen display side) yesterday mornng (9am UKT) for the Egyption hijacking coverage? Saw a totally different theme used on studio, mostly cyan like parts of the Newsday colours. Then there were odd moments where Studio C with the skyline background cuts in for a few seconds with an empty chair. It happened several times during a correspondent's speech.

Probably. I caught them end of that hour where Victoria said 'this is BBC News' then paused for the opt.

The programme in question is described here http://tvforum.uk/thenewsroom/victoria-derbyshires-new-40558/

Yes, the Victoria Derbyshire show was simulcast. As a World viewer, it caught me by surprise as well. The only way I otherwise knew that show existed was from all the bitching about it on here.
