Have BBC WN gone into Breakibv News mode?

And almost 8 years since the channel was renamed from BBC World to BBC World News, and BBC News 24 became the BBC News Channel. How time flies!

On a separate note, has Matthew Amroliwala reappeared yet?

I don't think either rebrand has been particularly successful. I still hear people calling the News Channel, News 24 and World News, World. Both names are too long and too clunky. Personally, I'd suggest both channels should be called BBC News. The two channels aren't supposed to be available in the same place, so it would ony cause confusion on forums like this.

I'd think that would cause quite a lot of confusion in the place where it counts, the BBC! They already get confused by the TV channel having the same name as the organisation itself, which means everyone clunkily calls it 'The BBC News Channel' instead of just 'BBC News'.

I'm sure regular memos (from overpaid and unnecessary executives) could be sent out to make sure everyone calls both channels BBC News. Internally, the BBC could call them what they like. I don't think a little confusion inside New Broadcasting House is a reason not to do something.

Anyway, it'll never happen, I'm just doing a little 'blue sky' thinking.

We've now seen how Newsday works when one presenter is on location. Personally I think it was very clunky in the opening sequence.

Still no sign of him. He's not been on air since early October. Very odd!
Tim Willcox filling in for him today.

Haven't seen Zeinab Badawi for a long ime. Is she still with the BBC?

No - she still presents HARDTalk, and is presenting today.

BBC World News still using the Newsroom backdrop at the moment rather than the skyline.

Apparently a pigeon is sat in front of the camera.

Eh - let the pigeon stay. Makes a dramatic backdrop Wink
