Because they're cheapskates. I even noticed BBC Text had an article up a couple of days ago in the Tech section (p153) about Microsoft axing the Internet Explorer name, with their new Windows 10 browser codenamed Project Spartan not yet having an official name. But Edge was named - and released - months ago! That has to be RSS feed related too. Probably pulled something up from January 2015, instead of 2016.

Is in insensitive of BBC WN to play an advert from Turkish Airlines in light of recent events in Istanbul?

What a wierd suggestion. So broadcasters should pull Turkish Airline commercials because of a terrorist incident in Turkey? Why??

Not really. Would it have been insensitive to run a BA advert on 7/7 (assuming there were any ad breaks)?

If a Turkish Airlines plane had been involved in an incident of some sort, then I can imagine there would be a discussion about it, and surely Turkish Airlines would be involved in any decision to pull advertising they had bought on the channel?

Why would BBC World, or any other broadcaster effectively turn their back on Turkey's tourist and business industries on today of all days !

I think usually if there's a major plane crash or similar then rolling news channels ditch all airline adverts no matter if they're the one concerned. The airlines don't want their brand shown around footage of plane wreckage etc.

On the other side of things when such coverage is happening airlines will often turn off rolling news channels in their departure lounges. I remember sitting next to a screen at Heathrow years ago and seeing instructions on the back for how to switch it off in such a circumstance.

CNN has or had an airport channel which I suspect changed its output to airport friendly output

Your right, she hasn't appeared recently. I think I saw her within the past month. But for a while it seemed like she was the permanent host of HardTalk.

I wasn't sure so seemed sensible to ask. It's possible viewers may not want to visit for a bit afterwards and seeing an advert the day it happened may seem like too much for them. Now that it's not in the news as much then that's fine to show the advert.
