I'm amazed nobody has asked Ros Atkins in to present a special edition of Outside Source, a story like this is perfect for the programme where Twitter is at the forefront.

The forefront of speculation and rumour.

I'd prefer they stuck to facts

Not really, it's a way of putting forward the accounts of witnesses caught up in the disaster. Also, the hashtags being used means that it's a way to promote the resilience of the people of Paris and France.

Focus on Africa continues on BBC World with a 'African perspective of events in Paris' with Lebo in London and Olivier Weber in Paris.

Ticker was showing 'Paris attacks: what happened on the night', 'Paris Attacks: The investigation so far', 'Who were the Paris attackers?'
Edit: I'm a bit surprised that these have been on for hours. It just looks terrible for a top international news broadcaster to have a ticker powered by an RSS feed. It might be more appropriate to just not have it running. IIRC, this decision was due to cuts?

Newsday this hour just from London. The titles was shortened and didn't have the 'Live studio shots'.

Also the name Aston for Kasia said Babita on...

Seems like the normal format at 1:00 GMT for Newsday. However the London studio came on during the opening headlines despite Sharanjit speaking from Singapore.

I'm not sure if I ever got an answer (having trouble going through the archives on my iPad) but what exactly powers the on screen monitors?

Not quite sure what you mean, I can't find your original question either! Must be a long way back in this thread. If you mean the large flatscreens next to the presenters in which down-the-line contributors appear and/or images for each news story, they're more or less standard flatscreen TVs, mounted on a clear acrylic stand, powered conventionally and fed from an AUX in the vision mixer. The power and video feed cable are quite cleverly hidden!

Regular mains power, cleverly routed. They're standard LCD TVs I believe, in a nicely designed acrylic mounting. You can see where the cables for vision and power are routed if you look carefully.

You can see where the power cords are if you look closely!

Sorry, I wasn't clear. What actually controls the monitors on the set? Does each TV have their own Viz engine or is it something else that plays out the standard graphics but changes sources when there is something to be shown?

The screens are fed from an AUX on the vision mixer, a different feed for each screen. So in theory anything that lands on the vision mixer can be cut or mixed into any screen. The Mosart automation controls this in practice, and it's generally a server clip, a graphic from Viz or an OS. It can also be a split of two or three OSs and it can be mixed from one thing to another in sequence.
