Any reason why they didn't use E overnight? Previously when Studio C was offline for maintenance, overnights came from E with Peter Dobbie (IIRC) - or is C simply not in operation all weekend?

It looks quite nice. The newsroom view seems more clear than in other sets. Wouldn't mind World using newsroom backdrop for some bulletins, maybe during night.

I'm guessing that the view in Studio D is three different 16:9 shots, whereas in A and C it is a single shot heavily cropped and so a lot softer. (Plus in C the LED screen is pretty low-res itself)

Avoids the half empty newsroom as a backdrop in E?

Something went wrong with the camera this morning, some sort of black patch that soon went as the camera zoomed in.

Most likely the prompter hood.

As a side note I noticed today's 2130GMT Outside Source started a minute or two early. Because of the way the show is scheduled here in the US it appears as two thirty minute programs. So I started the second half hour the program was already in progress - and started halfway through the opening credits.

The Freeview EPG shows Outside Source as two half hour programmes on the News Channel.

Outside Source was one programme at first when it came on in the UK. I remember it being one 60 minute programme on iPlayer. Now it is two programmes.

Effectively though the second edition (21:00) of Outside Source was always two programmes at 21:00 and 21:30, given that it had a long break at 21:25 for the world weather and programme trails in the same manner as all the other BBC World News strands.

Good to see that Global is now on five days a week for the first time, meaning that Outside Source is now the only programme strand that does not broadcast Monday-Friday.

I'm amazed nobody has asked Ros Atkins in to present a special edition of Outside Source, a story like this is perfect for the programme where Twitter is at the forefront.

Looks to me like a bit of the matt black cloth shroud, that most prompt hoods have that run from the hood to the lens, has drooped down. As you tighten you'll exclude it.

Suspect the team are only in on weekdays... Plus, it's quite a 'constructed' show - which is probably less suited to breaking news than it might seem.

The forefront of speculation and rumour.

I'd prefer they stuck to facts
