Glad you've mentioned vague or pointless headlines drifting across on the overnight ticker.

I'm curious does the WN ticker appear on the NC or was it a mistake? I thought the NC ticker was more comprehensive and always up during simulcasts.
I've always assumed that on the overnight simulcast on BBC One/News Channel was the BBC World ticker.
Compared to the daytime/evening News Channel ticker, it's different with shorter headlines or reads like it's scrolling web story titles, has no text numbers, and I've only seen the BBCNews.com web address, rather than the 'co.uk/news' one.

The ticker does have the UK contact details overnight iirc with rss feed style snippet headlines. I've never seen the website shown as "bbcnews.com" on there. Anything above the ticker will be the same as world, so I usually see the bbc.com there and then seeing .co.uk scroll by in the ticker.
I agree some of those headlines are confusing but this is what happens with so much automation.
