There's a clock on Newsday which rotates between major world cities.

There's a clock on Newsday which rotates between major world cities.

10mins of seeing this second on-screen clock, and I can't get used to it. It animates, which is distracting. It's annoying and completely needless. I really hope the tinkering with Newsday stops soon. The simplicity of the show was why I liked it so much, too many gimmicks are creeping in for my liking.

The animation/resizing of the clock is annoying. But what really is annoying is that there really is no specific order of the cities and they show multiple cities in the same time zone. I think they should go in order of the times zones or alphabetically and ditch the multiple cities per time zone. I can understand if the region isn't the same time due to day light savings time - but if they aren't there's no need to show it twice. I believe one example was New York and Washington - something most people should know.

I realize it's a trivial issue but I think most viewers who wat BBC World have a good sense of geography.

I don't remember seeing London on there yesterday, but it's there tonight, so NC viewers will see the time on the ticker and on the new World Clock.

I think some of those stunning night skyline graphics on Newsday could be used on the other overnight bulletins too.

I have to say Newsday is probably the most graphically upgraded bulletin on BBCWN to date. Probably Business Live comes second.

It might just make sense if the time was related to the story being presented - so, leading into a story on the Syrian conflict, the clock might show the time in Damascus; or a story on Donald Trump might have the time in Washington. But if it's just a strap that's flicking through timezones, I don't really see how it adds value.

I like the clock but think it would just be useful at the TOTH and the headlines mid way through the programme. I think if graphics weren't to be used then Babita could say the time in London just before it cuts to Singapore.

I have to say, I thought it worked quite well with Babita and Sharajiyt with the new setup, I think Babita and Rico worked better with the old setup!

I wonder what's wrong with the previous backdrop image. Maybe it looked like break of dawn and does not reflect the time in London? I was just about getting used to that and they seem to have now ditched that for the newer night time image. It looks a lot sleepier now.

I do agree Sharanjit looks stunning in the new studio setup.

There are no Latin American or Middle East cities listed in the time strap on Newsday. Depending on the purpose of the strap, the Middle East being left out is understandable since very few will be watching but it is odd Latin America is left out.
Full list: London, Manila, Seoul, Beijing, Chicago, Delhi, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Toronto, Kuala Lumpur, Auckland, Jakarta, Sydney, Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo, New York City, Johannesburg
IMO, they should replace Chicago, KL, and Toronto with Latin American cities. Maybe even replace or remove LA and Joburg.
