You're right, it does look rather messy! It's a shame because I do like the shorter titles & longer pan, but different audio is definitely needed!

I prefer it too - and it's certainly more in keeping with studio E and its newsroom pans, but the music, as you say, needs changing.

They certainly use those titles at 5am UK time for the former World Today slot, but I wouldn't know if they use them for the rest of that shift. As for it looking a bit messy - I think something went wrong there as usually it looks like this [...] I know the video you've linked to is more recent but the way the presenter still says 'top story' rather than introducing all the headlines fits in with the format of the other video, and the same two pieces of music are used in both.

Makes sense - thanks for clearing that up.

Yes that Oscars night opening isn't quite how it should be, after the business stories it should have gone straight to the wide shot with sting, rather than to that extra title sequence. I seem to recall from that morning, the bulletin titles was an extra item in the running order which shouldn't have been there!

They use those titles for the 06:00 and 07:00 bulletins on BBC World News as well.

Did Business Live start using the blue-teal lightbox colouring when it was simulcast on BBC News or does this early edition erroneously use the World Business Report lighting

The style of the programme is always to use the teal, lighting. There have been one or two occasions where for technical reasons the WBR colours had to be used instead; I can't remember exactly but this was probably one of those.

I wish they would bring back The World Today branding. It doesn't need its own titles or music but I like that the program had a name rather than just BBC World News.

7 years later and my EPG still says "BBC World" and it bothers me. One more reason for me to be annoyed at you, Sky

I've got a satellite dish which receives the channel from two different satellites - the channel on Hotbird changed its name to BBC World News straight away in 2008 - however, the channel on Astra has remained as BBC World until the present day. It's strange how its never been updated.

That said, I do prefer the BBC World name. Maybe that's just because I was used to it for so many years before the change.

Could be that one of the feeds is operated by BBC Worldwide, the other by a platform operator?

Same here, Rob. Still billed as BBC World on OSN in the Gulf region as well. And, like you, I still prefer the name BBC World without the News.

Remember the days of: "This is BBC News from BBC World. I'm Lyse Doucet"?
