Could Focus in Africa have been going out in the African market whilst the press conference was going out in Europe?
Very unusual for BBC to join a programme in progress.

Sorry I didn't think of that. I wish I hit the record button for the show.
Also maybe it's specifically the US feed but is there any reason why during the second half hour of BBC World News America does not carry the ticker? This part of the show is syndicated to PBS stations accross the US but other shows that are syndicated feature the ticker. Anyone know the logic behind this?

I think WN America is trying to go for a BBC One style news simulcast where there is no ticker.
Maybe they could try keeping the ticker and DOG on the WN channel but on the PBS feeds no ticker but a strap along the bottom with a WN America DOG and BBC website link when a lower third is cued like BBC One simulcasts of the news? Or is that too much to ask?

Very unusual to see these days a message in Russian before TOTH. You know why that is?

Big news for Singapore and BBC coverage of Asian news:
Changes include new studio, refresh of Newsday and Asia Business Report and appointment of Karishma Vaswani as Asia Business Correspondent, based in Singapore.
A brand-new television studio will greatly enhance the BBC’s ability to tell news stories from Asia with much greater visual impact. And as a result the editorial team behind Newsday and Asia Business Report is refreshing the Monday to Friday breakfast shows. The new-look programmes will launch on 3 August just as Singapore gears up to celebrate its 50th anniversary of independence.

Good news indeed. The broom cupboard is badly in need of an revamp.
And good choice in Karishma. She has business form.

I could be wrong, and probably am, but I believed it would be a new studio altogether, in a different location.
It will be interesting to see what how Newsday and ABR will be broadcasting while the studio is being revamped.
