Speaking of the BBC WN ticker, they added the newsletter information, it's seperated as "Interactive" like on the NC.

(Edit, 20:35 CET) WBR apparently uses the ex-Business Edition background by mistake

Just a thought, is there any merit if World is to put a time/clock on the ticker just the way NC does. I guess since World is broadcast globally, it probably would only be practical to put it in GMT.

That or they could insert it for their regionalized feeds. Most of their promos here in North America give times for NY, Denver and Vancouver. They could have the bug that rotates between ET, CT, MT and PT the way US cable networks handle it. Of course it may be a little trickier when you have a large regionalized feeds (such as their European and Asian) where there are many more time zones.

Thing is though, if they put up a GMT clock on the ticker, they will keep getting complaints from holidaying brits that the time is wrong," I just rang home and it was half ten not half nine, fix your damn clock. " Most don't know how GMT works.

Better if regional versions get their own version of clock on the ticker (for example the european version with the time in Lisbon, Paris and Moscow)

And i have a idea, drop the stupid RSS headlines for summaries and drop commercials breaks during the news on the european version

It's one of those things that if you don't have to think of it you don't know it. I will admit that I do screw up the whoe GMT time when the US converts to DST. For a week or two I still think I'm five hours behind and the realize I'm now for hours.

Also although BBC World programs for GMT time I've noticed that when the US and Canada switch to DST the List for our feed of BBC World are screwed up (on my TiVo and Comcast boxes) for three weeks until the UK switches to BST.

Of course instead of having different clocks for each feed they could just send out a master clock. The clocks would show major travel cities/destinations but it would start out with GMT (so you if your city is not listed you could do the math), London , New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Sydney, Tokyo, Seoul, Mumbai, Cairo and Paris.

RT have a clock that flicks between cities, something like that would be fine.

Bloomberg also has clock that flicks between London and Paris, CNBC has the clock that flicks between the cities during the business day programming, Euronews has the clock the flicks too, but during live coverage it changes to one location.

My iPhone has a clock too. It even displays my local time.
