I think I will make a quick video showing the opening and close of World News America. Apparently Katty Kay is attending the Gracie Awards which is an award show honoring programming for women, by women and about women.

Edit : Here's the video:

Anyone any idea why they are using an old countdown?

It's a recording of a PBS station in America. They are probably sent a countdown sequence every-so-often, and just haven't had an update yet. They probably aren't even aware of the updated sequence, and neither are most of their viewers.

BBC World News America in the US has KCET-TV (indie) as the Producer with obvious production by the BBC and distribution to many PBS stations by (APT) American Public Television. (not affiliate with PBS).
Figure that one out.

Mind you, it's a little poor as that countdown features the now deceased Komla Dumor. Surely the BBC (if not anyone else) would have considered this - especially on how hot they are as soon as someone leaves for another channel.

That said, I saw a countdown with Nik Gowing the other day.

That countdown is inserted by KCET and don't ask me why they never changed it. It appears on every station that airs syndicated BBC programming. I always thought it was wrong.

Nik Gowing appears at least once a day on World News.

I know it's a mix of different elements from different sources but surely they can do better than:
'This is BBC World News America. Next BBC World News America. This is a special edition of BBC World News America'

I cut out the first few minutes of sponsorships ads so that's why it jumps around.

I'm not usually in the habit of waking up to watch BBC World News at 5 o'clock in the morning, so I found it interesting when Adnan Nawaz called World Business Report "WBR" in his introduction, and even more interesting when Aaron Heslehurst shouted "good morning Britain!" at the start of World Business Report.

If World Business Report still had its nightmare-inducing theme tune, I doubt either of those things would have happened; it seemed to be treated more reverentially back then.

"Good Morning Britain, Good Morning World", to be precise.

It took a while, but the new theme has grown on me.

I like his catchphrase too. It's a nice acknowledgment of UK viewers. When the papers are done after WBR, the sign offs are a little awkward, though. Granted there is not much time to spare in that part. I've only ever seen Aaron do business. Occasionally have seen Sally Bundock presenting the news.

I like his catchphrase for me too.

Aaron's got a couple of 'catchphrases' - "Tweet me, I'll tweet ya back" being the most frequent I reckon.
