Here's a picture of Katty waiting in the studio.
A drought? California looks pretty green actually from my @kcet studio.... pic.twitter.com/TbexnKUKn3

No, but she did say that they would be broadcasting from there tomorrow too. Maybe an upgrade to their DC set?
Is this a permanent move?

I doubt it. I would think they would have made studio changes when they were out of the studio for two weeks last year while they were upgrading their infrastructure to HD. I think some elements in the set were replaced such as the monitors in the video wall were updated during that time frame.

I do wonder why the virtual set that the NC uses at 9 is relatively poor when the actual set in the caps above looks relatively good, and that's coming from a studio in the US! I seem to remember the US election also had a fairly nice recreation of Studio B for the VR bits back in NBH, so it is a wonder why the set used in Studio A for BBC News isn't as nice.
I mean, compare this:
with this (from TV Live):

Studio A doesn't look IMO anywhere near as nice.
Saying that, the desk in the LA set is obviously wrong and the presenter is out of proportion to the set, but the set itself is still nice.

Excited to host BBC World News America from Los Angeles today - thanks @kcet! pic.twitter.com/f3TXeadhSY

I agree the shot block was off. In an ideal world she should have the monitor on either side of her shoulder instead of having the monitor being behind her. I wonder if it has anything to do with the cameras being tracked as opposed to being able to move freely. Perhaps if they were on pedestals some of the blocking wouldn't look off.
The studio is 1500 square feet but the green screen area seems to be quite small.

I think I will make a quick video showing the opening and close of World News America. Apparently Katty Kay is attending the Gracie Awards which is an award show honoring programming for women, by women and about women.

I don't know if the studio set-up that World News America is using there is superior to that of Studio A at NBH, but they've even got a sense of depth of field in some of those shots, with the background out of focus, compared to the pin sharp backgrounds that show off the set is fake in Studio A.

How come they're not keeping on top of Studio C? The White LED lighting fixtures are starting to vary in colour temperature, and so are the screens.

Anyone any idea why they are using an old countdown?
