Also one more complaint Sad there's no epg either or at the bare minimum now and next, I presume it's SES who need to do this?

It would be produced by whoever handles coding and mux I think. I don't know who is coding and muxing that transponder, and whether it is part of any existing platform.

(The BBC uplink, and code & mux, the 28.2 BBC feeds - or more accurately outsource uplink to ATOS - and are responsible for inserting Sky and Freesat EPG data as a result. I don't know who handles the BBC WN uplinks and coding and mux for the various versions that exist)

Hello noggin the channel dosent seem to be part of any platform, according to my receiver it says the provider is Harmonic.

EDIT: There's a few more Harmonic channels on 13e only Comedy Central Poland HD has EPG maybe the data needs to be supplied to them.

Harmonic are a manufacturer of broadcast encoders.

Suspect that the 'Harmonic' flagging is just a coding/mux default setting rather than reflecting a common source.

What about the audio, deejay says redbee mix it to mono for no apparent reason, I know BBC world news is not a music channel, but with hd you would expect the sound quality to be the same as BBC news in the uk

The management of Newsday's time delay between Singapore and London is still rather inefficient I think as it has been since the beginning. They try to bring out an appearance as though Singapore and London can exchange dialogues spontaneously in real-time but it still is filled with awkwardness/delays very often, resulting in every so often unanswered dialogues or a situation where one party starts a line before the other finishes. Just on Monday, I noticed Babita closing the show with "I'm Babita Sharma in London" and she waited for Mariko to close, but Mariko didn't and she was just smiling and Babita smiled for 5 seconds waiting for her, before footage of the main headline appears and Babita proceeded with commenting on that. A lot of times too in the closing dialogues, London asks a question to Singapore as part of the casual dialogues to spice up the show, but in the end, London has to make up another line when Singapore fails to answer. Is there no way of further improving the communication?

Newsday is directed from London, with the Singapore presenter having a mixed feed of the director and the London presenter in their earpiece. Unfortunately the delays inherent in satellite links mean that despite good intentions to have interaction between the presenters, there will always be a two second delay. It's one thing cueing a remote presenter early over talkback in order for them to start as you cut to them, but it's impossible to get double headed interaction stuff to work as smoothly.

Excuse the stupid question but would using fibre provide a reduced delay?

I think there's always a delay associated with modern digital comms, some links we use can have delays of 4 seconds, which make things very hard!

It seems strange to me that it isn't possible (though perhaps cost is more the issue) to eliminate or at least reduce to unnoticeable the delays between two locations that are on air most days. It must make it challenging for all involved.

Don't think it matters all that much what Rico has for breakfast. But you know fibre is meant to be good for the digestion so...

I'd have expected Rico to step in and take over from whoever this guy was. Sounds like he was really messing things up.

Presumably Rico was on leave or otherwise unavailable or this guy wouldn't have been doing it in the first place?
