I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me generally a bit about how World News America/programmes from the BBC's Washington beauro is broadcast?
A more specific question is that considering it's the only solo-presented show thats not coming form NBH (to the best of my knowledge), I was wondering if all of the mixing/directing is done in Washington and then played out from London, or if London does everything with a single OS feed coming from Washington?
Just an observation that I've made over the past few weeks of watching is that there seems to be no rota. It's just a fairly random mix of Katty Kay & Laura Trevelyan taking turns in presenting.

Its not the only show to not come from BH, as Asia Business Report comes from Singapore.
It's a really great point though, why dont they just present the show from BH anyway? As there are many shows for other countries which come from BH (as Focus On Africa used to).

I don't quite understand the point of why they have World News America because the news on it doesn't seem to be 'america' related. It seems like it is just called World News America just because its a live show from Washington and that the second half of the show is broadcast on Public Television

WNA is in the timeslot of most American evening news broadcasts, it isn't a local news opt type of deal, it is competing with the networks, local stations and cable news outlets as a nightly newscast.

I think I'm right in saying that Studio C's gallery has quite a big role in WNA getting to air, Washington doesn't have the facilities to produce the programme independently unlike Singapore which does Asia Business Report on World while Studio C does the back half-hour on the News Channel.
What I find fascinating is how according to the schedule, the North America feed of BBC World News repeats WNA a couple of times. Presumably that's to cope with different time zones, but I find the whole concept of a pre-recorded news bulletin very strange.

One question which isn't about American News..
Earlier I watched World News Today and thought it was a really nice show but one thing that annoyed me were the titles. It looked like they were typed on quickly in a rush?
Also. Would it not also be good if World News Tonight was on the (BBC) News Channel as it is on BBC Four? This would also save budgets too?

Studio C doesn't do the back half hour of the News Channel between 9.30 and 10. In TVC, World's studio N8 used to cover the channel while N6 rehearsed the 10 and TC7 rehearsed Newsnight. Since the move to BH the entire 9 o'clock bulletin is live from the virtual Studio A. Nothing to do with World anymore.

I was talking overnight - Singapore does Asia Business Report followed by Sport from Salford while Studio C is on air to the UK
