Where was the Salford presenter? I'm guessing the domestic News Channel sport would be in the Sports News set?

Reshmin was in the usual World Sport Today studio.

Yes, it's a computer application for the learning of foreign languages (LINK). They advertise widely in the U.S.

Stepping back in time for a moment....this is quite rare footage these days:

Fond memories of seeing this branding on transatlantic flights during the late 90s.

And to follow that up, how about 7 minutes of BBC World graphics from that era, clean.

Just a very small aside, here's what looks like a first idea of the World News countdown, with different music, and a sweeping shot of the newsroom before it was even finished! From David Lowe's YouTube.

I like how the bulletin that ended at 10:25 pm London time/2225 GMT showed a live shot of the exterior of Broadcasting House. A nice little change.

Ally Bank sponsored World Business Report. I've never seen this before. Before it was only Horizons with DuPont but recently with Click, the Travel Show, and now WBR, I wondering if this is a change in policy or advertisers are just now willing to pay for these sponsorships.

I seem to remember many years ago World Business Report was sponsored by Shell. So I would imagine the advertisers more willing to pay rather than a change in policy.

Peter Horrocks is on record as saying that they wanted to increase the amount of advertising on BBC World News to generate more revenue but that any such activity would be very carefully screened first.

Given the second edition of Outside Source at 18G, the bottom of the hour one minute summary at 1830G is now presented by the business presenter (Tanya or Jamie) down in Studio B, as opposed to Ros on the weather balcony.

The same presenter then hosts World Business Report at 1831G.
