Thanks for that, I assumed Sport had moved lock, stock and barrel, I hadn't realised the language services were still doing their own from BH.

As I said, given the specialist nature of their work, it's natural that they would stay at Broadcasting House - they're outside of the "BBC Sport" mantle - they belong to BBC World Service.

Some of the presenters will present other programmes on the World Service too.

The NC and BBC World have merged for a News Special on Ukraine with Tim Willcox at 4:30.
I was at work so could someone please tell me what studio was used?

As usual for News specials, it was B

The breaking news look now matches the one on BBC News Channel. The initial 'BREAKING NEWS' strap is not longer one colour and breaking news graphics are on one of the two screens. Unfortunately, they used it for the US Open. Others may disagree but IMO it's a bit inappropriate to use the graphics to announce the score from a sporting match.

I totally agree with you Independent, I thought the same when I saw it this morning. In a world where there are so many developing news stories, it was over-the-top to use the BREAKING NEWS strap and screens in that case.

Visually it looks good and catches your eye and prompts you to look at the TV and turn up the volume.. but it needs to be used in the right manner.

Sometimes a mistake actually turns out for the better......

....World News* ended at the bottom of the hour with the countdown music played instead of the usual closing music. And it was rather good and suited to the studio wide shot, and was faded out in a nice manner. (The orchestral bits.)

*Overnight simulcast bottom of the hour at 0330G

Breaking News filler runs after the last news headline summary at bottom of the hour. And Geeta reads through the sting with its music at normal volume.

Rather surprised that World have broken into normal programming for a Breaking News special with Geeta Guru-Murthy and Witchell, on the news of the Royal pregnancy.

Whilst good news for many, quite surprised it has been elevated to interrupted coverage on World News.

Edit: Actually, good news for us NewsGeeks, as the stint ended with a splendid studio wide shot of Geeta and Nicholas with Breaking News illuminated across all the screens. It looked good!

I've always found the Global title sequence really confusing...what is it? To me it just looks like a lot of grey pipes forming and the camera moving and animating about. I understand, to an extent, the titles for the other programmes.

It was me that brought it up before and it got buried under a few more posts. Surely I'm not the only person that thinks this?
