I'm fairly sure I saw a breaking news sting during the 2008-13 period. By the way, the official name for them is a PIDLE sting - Programme Interruption Device Live Event. A decade or so ago they used to have two - Breaking News and Live Coverage.
There was a PIDLE during the 2008-13 look? I don't think i've seen it on World.

TV Live has caps of a PIDLE for BBC WN between 08 and 13 here. You'll have to scroll down a little bit.

I note that some hours, you get World News America at :30. I suppose this is just a repeat of World News America from 5pm ET/EDT?

I didn't realize there are WNA newscasts at :30 other than the one at 5pm ET because I tend to watch other things exactly at those hours. I assume they're repeats but I'll take a look and see if I remember to.

Those :30 WNA bulletins are repeats of the one at 5:30pm ET as far as I can tell since the two at 5pm ET, while both are live, are extremely identical.

BBCWN now spots a Breaking News ident that flashes right before a breaking news.

What does this look like? Is there any screenshots?

Here's the screen grab guys! Just got of Impact yesterday. It uses the same music sting as the last 1-2 seconds of the bottom-of-the-hour news summary thunderclap.

BBC World News is now using countdowns that have inserted footage from Brazil (helicopter view of Christ the Redeemer statue and a time lapse of a city skyline) and soccer/football stadiums into them. These countdowns have the 'Live the Story' slogan underneath the BBC World News logo. Also, the video quality seems different and the digital timer has a different 'glow' to them.

Are we getting confused between a sting interrupting pre-recorded programming and a sting within the bulletin before a strap comes on? Like that was introduced on News 24 in 2003?

Ah yes, I see what you mean. It used to be called a Breaking News Splash back then so I assume this is still the correct term?

That Breaking News sting is hor-hor-hor-horendous. It's almost overwhelming with so many elements and patterns on-screen at once.

It looks great to me although not seen it on screen needs to make it to domestic news channel ASAP!

it is on screen for maybe 3-5 secs at the most. It is a shame it doesn't transition nicely on and off screen, but it is a sting just like these ones from the past.

What does the RedBee pres suite for World actually do? I had assumed that they play out the back half hour recorded programmes, but seeing the ticker suggests it's actually coming from a news gallery at BH.

Or does the pres output come back to BH for the ticker to be added downstream?

I would imagine they handle the advert breaks in different regions. The breakfiller possibly. But with the ability for the news galleries to break into it with the ticker etc.
