I'm watching what are supposedly some of Nik Gowing's final bulletins, and the audio keeps dipping in and out. It'll go from a normal level to almost silent, then back to normal. It repeats this about every minute or so. Is this a problem other people are getting, or is it just (rather likely) a problem with my Comcast carrier? No other channel seems to do this.

It appears to be ok where I am, Charles.

When I was watching Nik's last bulletins, I noticed he departed from his norm with a less usual green tie. I was expecting him to go with his trademark rainbow tie, though I'm not sure if he wears that on the last day.

At least he didn't wear a black one.

Despite the UK News channel broadcasting an election special, Mike Embly's 2:00 BST bulletin is still been referred as 'BBC News'

I think it's to avoid confusion to viewers, it's still being broadcast on PBS in America

Since something like 95% of American households get pay TV, wouldn't most of those viewers get BBC World News too?

Isn't it available on the basic package?

Not until very recently. Until about last year, I believe only Verizon FiOS had national carriage, now that's been expanded to Time Warner, which also has an HD feed.

No. BBC World News is nowhere near universally available in the US.

When on earth will this HD feed of BBC World News in Europe, presumably when half of us are on our walking sticks!

BBC World News has been available on TWC for years, and in upscaled HD for around 18 months. It's available on Verizon Fios but only in SD where needed to purchase a premium package in order to receive it. No clue if or when Fios will get a HD feed... Sad

A bit of memory suddenly surfaced on me not too long ago. When I was watching Aaron presenting business, it occurred to me that I've seen him present a bit of the main news before but where did I get that from. A bit more thought and I suddenly remembered back in pre-NBH days, the bottom of the hour headlines summary is read by the upcoming presenter, not the main news presenter as it is now. Strange I only realise the difference now. Smile
