Saw a deviation in the intro of World Today today. Starts off with 1 main headline announced, followed by music and globe intro clip, then presenter announces more sub-headlines, and then pans to biz presenter on the catwalk for her headlines, then cam zooms from an angle behind presenter while playing some soft music again, and the news presenter begins the news. No two presenters sitting together this time.

Check back the thread, this was introduced last week. It's only in place for the 5am to 8am UKT shift. Presumably it's to give the bulletins more of an identity like it used to have during 'The World Today' times.

I hate these kind of posts, but has anybody got a cap of this? Can't really get up early to see this and at the moment have no means of recording.

I noticed for the first time Overnight at 2am and 3am GMT for the verdict of Bo Xilai there was a different TOTH sequence, basically pictures of Bo Xilai scrolling left across the screen with an animated background to the usual audio track. I do the sequence an injustice describing it this way, but I can't seem to find an online hosted version, but perfectly nice and must of taken a little time to put together. The rest of the coverage was basically watching the BBC China specalist in the studio reading out Weibo (think twitter) tweets from her iPhone. Anyway, it was an interesting and nice touch.

Wow I miss those. I remember whenever there used to be a BBC News Special a few years ago, they would make a special intro each time. They used to make BBC News Specials actually feel "special". But now they hardly do that. They did it for the news special for Margaret Thatcher's death, but other than that, I don't remember seeing one since 2008.

Didn't occur to me it was that. Yup, I've referred back and there's a post about Komla mentioning some changes to the 4am news, and some forum members wondering what it was. So I guess this is it.

What do you mean by hating these posts? I do have some recorded, but I've yet to get out some caps. It's basically what you normally see on a normal bulletin, just with the stand-up intro by the biz presenter as the most obvious difference, instead of him sitting down together with the main news anchor.

He meant he hates posts like the one he posted, people asking for caps.

Have just woken up in the last few minutes, and forgot to set my DVD recorder to record the opening. Will try again tomorrow.

Cheers rob. Doesn't quite work does it? Bizarre they've decided to do this.

It's just a change for the sake of change. Previous opening was unique enough since it featured 2 presenters at a desk, something we don't see in any other slot.

I wonder when we'll get used to this, as it's a big mess.

A few points to raise from that opening,
Martine Dennis is working on BBC World long enough to know that you're not supposed to make reference to the time of day as the program is being broadcast around the world so it's not 'Morning' everywhere.
The couple of other times I've seen this new opening, the business presenter walks off the set by turning to their right, where was Alice going by turning to her left?
The noise of the shoes is distracting when the anchor is reading the top story, Business presenter should remain in place until the first report is being played. I'm pretty sure that's how it's done upstairs in Studio E at the TOTH

Looks like I've been beaten to it, but here it is from the 17/09/2013.
