1630 GMT Friday. Two major breaking stories - fire on an airline at LHR, closing the runway; and a train crash in Paris. Efficiently and quickly covered by Sky. And BBC World News? They are late with LHR pics and have no pics of Paris (unlike Sky). Then they cut to Weekend World, leaving the field clear for Sky.

Not really a World story though I woud imagine, more of a Domestic story...

Not so sure about that. The Dreamliner grounding due to dodgy batteries was a major global story, so another fire on board a Dreamliner is definitely an interesting story, wherever the fire is. Heathrow is one of the busiest international passenger hub airports in the World. Two pretty global aspects to the story.

Sad news about the death of Glee actor Corey Monteith.

The BBC World duty presenter (or someone who preps the autocue) managed to confuse his character name with his real name in the piece just read out, whereby 'Hudson had recently been treated for drug addiction', or words to that effect.

Come on World! Sloppy.

Not a pres related question but I was wondering do the BBC Regions, Sky and ITN have access to BBC World News?

Sky and ITN would, even if it was just an overseas bureau like Australia. As for regions I know I've seen WN up on the screens behind the sports reporters in Salford. So they have it at least.

BBC World News appears in the short bulletins on a domestic channel when they go through the world channels.

I've been looking at this recently, and they really don't have the space or the staff to maintain a studio like Studio C - if you were lucky, I suspect you could fit a greatly scaled down set, with a desk, smaller rostrum, LED wall and the side screens, as from what Studio shots I've seen on the election programme from Washington, they look to have enough for a slightly 'deeper' set. You'd have no chance of fitting in the newswall.

Not sure why World News America is now broadcasting from the London HQ. Maybe Kathy Kay happens to be in London or they're really hyped about the royal baby like someone mentioned. But, it's something fresh we don't get to see that often. Something caught my eye on the edition of it just now, it seems they programmed the cameras for Kathy just as they programmed for a business reporter. Since World News America has a thing for the anchor standing when opening the news at times, this time round, the moment we come back from the introductory newsclips, we see the camera pans to the main desk, with an empty seat, and the quickly changes to the 'catwalk' where Kathy is. It does feel weird, as if there's some mistakes if one is not familiar with their sets. On business report, it's alright since we're aware that there was an anchor sitting there recapping news a moment ago before the business presenter takes over.

An interesting note that Kathy is bothered by the hot weather in London judging by her twitter updates, and also she mentioned she sympathized with the Duchess for being pregnant in such hot weather when closing her show just now.
