Absolutely cracked up at "I know which camera I can talk to, thank you very much Mr. Gowing". As the title says, this is one of your essential videos for the week. But will he talk to that camera now? Very Happy

Is it just me or did Rico Hizon call him "Yours truly" on Newsday when talking about the smog in Singapore?

Seems like a bit of a technical meltdown just now on World - a mic not being turned up on an interview, a report missing & when found the translation then missing.

Although Daniela Ritorto did a good job of getting through the problems.

Was the first 15 minutes of the 9pm News channel bulletin with Martine Croxall similcast?

Has the 8-12 slot always been anchored by only one person?

Has the 8-12 slot always been anchored by only one person?

yes, since the move to NBH. However, it used to be 7-12 prior to the move when Annita or Clive anchored.

If you're referring to BBC World News and the 8-12am slot UK time, then the answer is no!

Predominantly, it is anchored by only one presenter, as at present. However, there was a period of time when some of the hours and back-halfs were presented by two people. These were usually David Eades and Lucy Hockings together as a team, with Geeta Guru-Murthy as the Monday fill-in.

Gradually, just about everyone on the roster had a go at these slots (Mon to Fri) and the double header was eventually dropped in favour of the single anchor format you see today.

Double header started shortly after World moved back to N8 from N9, IIRC.

Yes, I was taking about world! So Nik always presents on his own? When did he take over this shift?

He took over that shift when his programme The Hub was ditched at the end of last year.

Think I heard him chipping in some humor too. He said something along the lines of 'From me and the smog in Singapore... bye for now" in closing one edition of ABR. Funny and cheerful chap he is.

Btw, I noticed BBCWN in Singapore seems to not want to use the alternative background to replace less presentable window views nowadays. They seem to be okay with dark outside views like around 6am in Singapore, when it's totally black. And during the smog, they go ahead with the blurry view. Didn't bother to switch to one of the purple poster backdrops they use occasionally, and more regularly in the past.

I miss that program Lucy Hockings and David Eades presented. I wish they'd bring that back.

Why did they cancel The Hub?

Is it just me or do they keep using the same countdown every hour? When BBC WN moved to NBH they had 6 different countdowns, but now they just use 3. Also the scenes in these new countdowns aren't that interesting either, at least compared to the original 6.
