Is there really no-one better than James Pearce available to read the sport?
He can't read an autocue with any sort of rhythm and sounds really unnatural whenever he is presenting.

I'm surprised they're not asking some of the presenters from BBC World to stand in, like they did over Christmas and New Year (Tulsen Tollett, Marc Edwards and the like), given that Sarah Mulkerrins (a largely BBC World presenter) is often on the News Channel for the weekday morning/afternoon shifts now.

Mariko Oi appears to be presenting from London this weekend. According to her twitter, she will be in London for all Newsday broadcasts, with Kasia in Singapore (although this is quite unclear):

I read that as Mariko being back in Singapore for Newsday with Kasia in London as normal...

That's possible, though I don't see what the BBC are gaining by sending a Singapore presenter to London for just a single day (or maybe at most two days). Maybe we'll know more at the time though ^_^

Given that Mariko works for the BBC there may be lots of reasons why she is visiting London, not just on-screen presentation ones.

We are getting around that time of year where foreign presenters or correspondents visit BH. Possibly for training, head shots and other promotional material. Maybe she’s there renegotiating her contract and instead of taking time off she’s still presenting when required.

Ah, makes sense when put like that. Would be nice if these foreign correspondents and presenters were shown to a UK audience on the NC though, rather than being secluded to WN!

They are shown to UK audiences on certain simulcast shifts.

Looking at Mariko's Twitter feed she was over here primarily for a BBC training course.
