I imagine they'll just keep them, unless he's going to a different broadcaster. If he's retiring, there's not really a need to revoice the obits. In newspapers, some obituaries are published long after the writer has died.
The problem comes when they need to add to the obituary when the person dies as its a lot harder to disguise different voices than it is to disguise a different person writing part of a piece.
If you were doing that you'd re-voice the whole obit. News usually edit with VO on a separate track still - so that's actually not to tricky to do.
Are scripts stored electronically for obit pieces? Are they for many pieces generally?
