Victoria Fritz would have also been a distant contender if she wasn't on maternity leave.

This does assume Naga doesn't combine the role with those mentioned providing some cover.

Reminiscent of when Emily Maitlis covered the political editor brief a couple of years ago while Allegra Stratton was on maternity leave. Emily continued to present her Newsnight shifts as usual.

So it turns out Ben Bland is going freelance.

So who is going to get the Thursday-Saturday Breakfast presenting role, I wonder?

Steph McGovern or Sally Nugent would be a good shouts.

Steph McGovern confirmed on twitter that she will replace Naga on Breakfast for two months while Naga is on Newsnight.

Edited to correct time period.

Great choice! Steph is perfect for the role, although I think she'd be better alongside Dan...

Terrible decision IMO, can't see why the programme is so popular anymore,
They need a good clear out and make the programme good again, they should get rid of Louise, Naga, Steph, Dan, Roger Johnson, Ben Thompson.
They need to move back to London too. They really need to have Charlie & Sally hosting together, they been great over the past few days.
It would be nice to see more of the likes of Simon McCoy & Nicholas Owen.
And Rachel Burden should've have been the one to take Naga's role, she is a fantastic presenter, she reminds me of Katie Derham who used to host the ITV Lunchtime News.

Any reason why you think all of the experienced, popular presenters should be "cleared out"?
I'm struggling to understand your logic.

Wow, just wow. What a load of nonsense.

The current of presenters are more than capable of doing the job. You seem to have a very personalised agenda here against most of the team.

And why move it back to London? The programme is perfectly fine in Manchester, and draws from the resources in the area that we might not otherwise see or hear from if it were in London.

Clearly the vast majority of people don't agree with you as the programme remains very popular.

Just because you find it boring doesn't mean it's not a successful or popular show - I think the only person that has any issue with any of the presenters is you!

Steph has said that she'll be on for the next two months so wonder if they have someone else lined up for the rest of the time. Maybe Sally

Please stop with this rota-based, non-real-world, socially-stunted 12-year-old's idea of how TV news works! It's pointless onanism - and if you don't know what that word means, for God's sake, look it up!
