STV Central BBC World
Jon Sopel | To become North America Editor
Shaun Ley | To become a permanent news presenter on BBC World and HardTalk
Karin Gianonne | New permanent slot at 12G
Katya Adler | To become Europe Editor
Yalda Hakim | To be Impact presenter

Surprised at a few of the above. Pleased at some.

Lucy Hockings | Perhaps going to the Nik Gowing or Sopel slot?

(The last comment is my own speculation)

So it's Global no more??? Sad

It would seem that Global is no more on the basis that the North America editor will be based in North America. Perhaps Jon will present World News America from time to time. Perhaps they may keep Global with Lucy Hockings as presenter as she has presented that shift recently with Yalda getting Impact (a mistake in my opinion).

I suspect Global will continue with Lucy Hockings in the chair.

Jon Sopel will be a big loss to the presenting team, but an excellent choice for North America Editor. I hardly think he will present World News America - Mark Mardell never did.

The morning slot will surely be Geeta, as I said before.

So is Karin to present GMT (reference to 12) - if this a permanent does this mean George will not come back to the World channel? Sorry a bit confused by reference to Karin above!

Im assuming she will continue to present the shift she currently is, on a permenant basis as 12:00GMT is 13:00BST which is the time she is currently presenting.

I don't see much of World News (not being based abroad) so I haven't seen much of Yalda Hakim. From what I had seen (on the News Channel when the two services merged around a big story) she didn't seem to be much cop as a presenter...

...has she greatly improved or do World News simply think ability is a secondary concern and good looks are all that matter (and, don't get me wrong, she is VERY good looking)?
