Studio A didn't look TERRIBLE for the Film Review but equally the VR has never been great either! Spotted something interesting in the fake reflections in the desk...

*

Clearly the VR design from the Film Review was copied/changed from something else and so the reflections in the desk are for a set with different lighting/backdrop!

Surely they would just use the generic news virtual set which is based on Studio C and put the appropriate images on the virtual screens?

Is the Film Review done live or is it pre-recorded earlier?

I suppose when 5 Live's Kermode and Mayo moves to 1500-1700 in June it'll have to be live, or recorded before the radio show.

Today's was either live or done in the 16:30 half hour as Martine was on air for the first half of each hour from 13:00

I believe it is live. I've noticed during the 5 on a Friday they always do a preview to Sportsday just before 17:45, something they never do on other days. I presume this is so Mark Kermode/Jason Solomons can get seated and ready.

It’s nearly always live. The trail is to allow the set to be changed.
It was done live in A today.
Sometimes, because of breaking news, it’s recorded at 1630.
You can tell when it’s live as the logo and ticker will go during the titles, they stay on when it’s recorded.

I’ve just realized: if B is busy with rehearsals for the next two weeks, and everyone is decamping, where will Newsnight come from?

Perhaps it could be done in The Shed? Maitlis and Dubonnet?

It may depend on whether they be moved out entirely or perhaps more likely just daytime so Victoria Derbyshire and Newsnight might be unaffected.

Wow Studio C looks like a more complete studio screens literally all the way even the bits we don’t see, while Studio E it just sorts of stops after two screens.
