A couple of fascinating videos of BBC World footage (including full news bulletins and other assorted presentation elements) from 1997 and 1999 here:

It's really great to see the flags era again. Watching these videos, it strikes me that BBC World News is a completely different channel in 2017. Whether it's just nostalgia, I don't know, but I really do miss those days on BBC World - a much simpler but altogether more impressive time for news presentation.

Also from the same uploader

I really miss those days, a lovely breakfiller and a presentation package which tied in nicely.

Fantastic!! Definitely my favourite era of BBC World presentation. It all came together beautifully. Everything since 2003 has paled in comparison to this and the flags era.

It's quite amazing how every single piece of presentation had fantastic music and graphics back then. I haven't heard that markets update music since then and it's so good!

Nice to see some former presentation, including in the 1999 video, a reminder of how the DOG was ever so subtly different during Europe-only opt outs...

The 1997 video with the first month of the white breakfiller with content from BBC World teletext. And the new World Focus strand (spot the error in the trail?) Time Out would later that year become World Living.

Got BBC World News on TV this evening for a change. Since when has the last 15 minutes of Outside Source been UK only, with Sport Today going out on BBC World News? Completely passed me by!

BBC World News has just crashed off air in the middle of World Business Report.

And 30 seconds before the programme ends, we crash back in...

What in the world is this? I've never seen BBC World News "gone off air" before. I just spotted this on the World News schedule and I've missed the off air sequence.

I think I've worked it out that the gap is 7:30 GMT based on the rest of the schedule. If so, It's supposed to be Hard Talk, probably an error in the schedules database.
