The taped programming in the back-half hours in North America and Latin America from 7 pm - 10 pm ET (12 am - 3 am GMT) have been removed this week only. They'll return next week. It's a strange decision.

Sorry this is a bit of a lame question. Does bbc world have a global schedule like CNN where everything is shown at the same time or does it have regional variations?

It looks as though they have variations for different areas of the World, which feature programmes specific to that area at different times of the day. See this previous post from a516:

Thanks for that. I meant if for example GMT is on in one part of the world. Do they potentially play something else in another part of the world like CNN used to?

As the grid that Stuart has reposted above shows, generally BBC World News shows the same programme at the same time everywhere.

However, in the back half hours there are a fair few instances where one region gets a different programme to the rest. From a quick look, in the early hours of the morning (GMT) for some reason the US has a pre-recorded features show (such as Click) instead of a live Sport Today. At the opposite end of the day, the South Africa Standard Time and Asia Pacific regions get additional Sport Today/Asia Business Report instead of (presumably part) of World News America. The following hour, the US gets a repeat of Beyond 100 Days.

Whenever there's a regional variation, at least one of the programmes being aired is a pre-record, meaning that there are never two live programmes airing at the same time in different areas (I think!).

On BBC World News India where everyone were getting Hardtalk they showed Asia Business Report(presumably Live), Sport Today which was definitely live then it rejoined seamlessly to the normal schedule, it’s all very seamless.

Very unusual, after the second Newsday broadcast ended, normally the London presenter stays to do the headlines at 1.30am, then some NC only stuff between Asia Business Report/Sport Today: that person then vacates when Sport Today is simulcast, giving the overnight shift time to prepare. However, today, Babita was already out of the studio and Mike Embley was there to do the bottom hour headlines and pass over for NC viewers.

Also, quite interestingly, since last week (when Rico returned to broadcasting), there has been a cameraman stationed behind the camera on the catwalk (window side), which I've only observed cleanly during the Asia Business Report simulcast. I'm going to guess this camera can no longer be automatically controlled as in the past, which seems odd because the camera is in a fixed position and not really "movable".

Didn't Babita start on air earlier than usual as WNA couldn't come from Washington? Possibly just a juggling of shifts as a result.

Christian Fraser also presented Beyond 100 Days solo. No US anchor.
