The Talking Business presentation really doesn't work in Studio C - Studio B is larger so Aaron's more able to run around the set there but it just looks ridiculous Aaron constantly running between the catwalk and the desk. And while I get 'the cube' is part of the show it does seem strange to use it when you have a fully-functioning newswall behind you. Surprised they didn't just go with more of a 'Business Live' type of approach to the show for a day.

And while I know Aaron's presenting is unlikely to change any time soon - as some who doesn't regularly see BBC World News it does feel a bit much. At one point in that studio he's just shouting at a guest and in the clip at the end he's going on so much that he's barely intelligible by the end. He does have a habit too of highlighting any mishaps/errors a bit more than is necessary. That said he's a marmite presenter so I'm sure there's plenty who are big fans of his.

The cube definitely dosent work in Studio C, and the layout of Studio C naturally does not work for the over excitable Aaron Hazlehurst.

I am sure he has many fans around the world though, probably a bit too much for us Brits.

Hmm, I remember that someone mentioned on here before that Talking Business is supposed to involve a lot of movement, but it did look a bit silly on this occasion! At the end of the headlines Aaron walks past the camera, but then had to walk straight back to the same spot for the first sequence after the titles which was strange. The cube was then too big in contrast to the presenter, and then after the interview at the desk later there was an awkward run across the studio back to the catwalk, which might have looked okay in Studio B when there are manual camera ops to follow the presenter round, but with the robotics in C just seemed weird...

I prefer Aaron with a co-presenter (for example on Business Live) where the co-presenter acts as the yin to his yang, and calms him down a little. Perhaps if the show followed a more dynamic programme along the lines of Outside Source, I don't think his presentation would be so jarring. Currently his shouty presentation style sandwiched in the middle of Impact, which is far calmer and more serious. In any case, studio C definitely cramped his style a little...

I'm not a big fan of his biz chat with Yalda Hakim on Impact, the two presenters are completely different. I've mentioned in the past that his co-presenting with Victoria Fritz was him at his best, while she is a much calmer version of him.

Indeed. At first I found his enthusiasm quite refreshing and energising. However, it suddenly began to grate, and once you have that mindset about a presenter, it's almost impossible to get out of your head.

Before 'The Briefing' began last year, he occasionally used to present World News Today/World Business Report. It wasn't pleasant to wake up to that sort of needless cavorting and shouting at 05:35.

I think he is what the business news needs on BBC World News.

When you think back to World Business Report 10+ years ago... Richard Quest, 'Patrick' O'Connell, John Terrett - we had a few big personalities. It started to go a bit stale after that, so I was pleased when Aaron was given a more prominent role.

Don't think it has been mentioned already...

Africa Business Report (which ended in May) has been replaced by Talking Business Africa.

*

Same host as before (Lerato Mbele) and shot on location.

The programme seems to air monthly (with the first one going out in August according to the BBC website). This month's was shown in condensed form at the end of Friday's live Talking Business programme.

It does make me wonder what the strategy for the Talking Business brand actually is...

If you remember, first there was 'Talking Business with Linda Yueh' which ran between 2013 and 2015. A pre-recorded half hour programme of mainly interviews. It had different branding.
*

Then, it just became 'Talking Business' from 2015 - 2017 with the same graphics as Aaron's programme. It seemed to finish up around the same time as Aaron's programme launched, but bizarrely returned in November 2017 for a one-off programme.
*

Back in the day, 'World Business Report' was the flagship business brand on BBC World with various spin-offs (Asia, Africa, Middle East... am I missing any?). It just seems strange to mix the live, lively, studio-based show with much more traditional pre-recorded programmes.

I think the only "...Business Report" you have missed is India Business Report.

Wasn't Africa Business Report monthly too? In which case the programme has basically just changed names?

In terms of the timeline of Talking Business, worth pointing out that when Talking Business went daily, it kept the branding but received new David Lowe music (timed to sync with the existing titles, so a bit of an odd mix of old and new). Think they'd have been better off keeping a separate brand for the Africa Programme.
