Maryam Moshiri covered for Aaron on Monday and while there was still the walking across the studio segments, her delivery is mainstream in comparison to Aaron. He's one of a kind when it comes to pulling the over enthusiasm off.

It is interesting how other presenters move about the set when covering Talking Business. You can tell not everyone is comfortable with that level of movement, particularly the opening sequence where you almost walk with your back to the camera to get to the catwalk.

I do like the show - it makes great use of Studio B.

I've just dug out this video of Aaron presenting WBR that I recorded way back in 2003 for comparison. He was OTT when compared to his contemporary BBC World presenters back then - crikey, now he's gone into orbit!!

I’m glad you like Talking Business. The whole brief was to use the whole of Studio B in a fluid and flexible way, using areas and shots not often seen on BBC World News (certainly not in the same show at any rate). Believe it or not, the whole show is done on just two cameras. It’s great fun to direct and Aaron really flies when doing that programme. The other presenters enjoy it too, but as they don’t do it as often (and Aaron knows precisely where his ‘marks’ are that have to be hit to make the show work) they aren’t quite as comfortable with the choreography of the show, especially when things have to go out of sequence for whatever reason.

Does the afternoon NC biz presenter normally go on to present the 1730 BST edition of WBR?

From the times I've seen it, yes.

In Winter, the duty business presenter stays to do the 1830 GMT programme (because WBR swaps with Focus on Africa).

Yes, I do also enjoy Talking Business. Maryam is a good replacement when Aaron is away. A change of tempo but still great to watch.

Anyone else covering is a change in tempo! Very Happy

I love Aaron. He’s so passionate about anything and everything it seems. He’s naturally curious and that’s good for a journalist.

I love it when he’s covers aviation he’s like a kid in a candy story (is that a expression used in the UK?). He was so excited at Farnborough Airshow. They should have him cover aviation as side speciality but unfortunately I doubt that will happen as there was that “scandal” of him moderating panels at air and defense conferences.

Sometimes though I wonder if he should be tested for speed. Wink Laughing (Don’t flame me it’s a joke)

It would be nice to see it in UK though, as licence fee payers deserve to watch it too Smile

Like a child in a sweet shop.
Like a dog with two tails.
Like throwing a chipolata down Oxford Street.
Like a Metropol member at a Tesco pride march.

Agreed.

I’ve often wondered with the BBC’s cost-saving measures, what the rationale is with simulcasting Newsroom Live on BBC Two. Even the average viewer would recognise it as a fairly pathetic attempt to rebadge a bog-standard hour from the news channel.

I appreciate it is on at a different time, but such a stand-out programme like Talking Business would be of far greater value to a BBC Two viewer. It would be like having Working Lunch back.
