Interesting that so far with the broadcast from Singapore covering tomorrow's summit, they've chosen to have Christian Fraser on location (possibly a hotel balcony) rather than using the BBC Singapore Studio.

Wouldn't you have thought it would be a great time to use the Singapore Studio more?

They never use the windows in that studio while it's dark, presumably it's not that great a view in the dark, and it's a fair way out of the CBD with all it's impressive buildings.

I think Christian is here - the Riverwalk Apartments

The lower one looks gubbed and stuck on white at the top.

The one on Business Live used the lower light box of green and orange, so it looks light they are experimenting with the colour palettes.

With the studios being all of the same ilk around the world not much point in travelling to Singapore to sit in a studio similar to something he can sit in within New Broadcasting House.

You could be right, but it didn't look very orange to me. I thought it looked green at the bottom and white at the top.

A departure from the usual blue all the same though.

Glad to see that the previously mentioned BBC News policy of sending fewer presenters to pointless anchor from the field is working well. With the Trump/Kim Jong-un summit about to take place in Singapore, Newsday is being presented by Rico Hizon in the Singapore studio, along with Babita Sharma who is, er, also in Singapore. The latter presenter has been plonked somewhere outside though, but obviously isn't that far away as you can see some of the same landmarks (mainly the Marina Bay Sands hotel) behind both presenters!

Also quite impressively, the delay between the two presenters in different parts of Singapore seems to be worse than it is between Singapore and London!

All noted above, Critique. The comms delay between Singapore and Singapore is quite remarkable.

Babita Sharma and Christian Fraser appear to be the chosen BBC names to anchor this LIVE event. Interesting choice.

As you say, considering that the BBC already has a pool of 3 permanent anchors who are already based in Singapore........

I currently have Babita Sharma on the NC now. This could be a huge event for the world to take in for either good or bad timing. I don't like either of the men that are carrying out this dialogue tbf. I could assume that having this summit is a way for them to build bridges between both countries. But I could use that term 'build bridges' very lightly. If this summit literally turns out to be a huge success; I will be gobsmacked with the outcome of it all because I would never have thought that idea of summit between the U.S. & NK would think be palatable at this stage in our lives.

In times like this, where there is breaking news, how does World News handle ad breaks? i.e. to make sure Red Bee doesn't automatically roll adverts/trailers based on normal programming.

I guess the broader question is how are the ad-breaks usually scheduled, is it through ENPS?

The news gallery will tell the playout director that they're rolling. They will put the schedule in hold and take the breaks out of it as needed

It's the same as the Sky News gallery do with their playout.

The breaks will appear in the running order in ENPS so they have the timings to build the bulletin around. Though they won't have to get to the breaks spot in time they will have to finish the bulletin on time. So if the first half before the break overruns then the timings for the second half will reflect that

But the adverts themselves won't be in ENPS as News don't care what's actually in the breaks

The Comms delay will surely be because each OB is feeding to London, so it's a Singapore - London - Singapore round trip.

The Briefing this morning had a even flatter colour for the bottom lightbox like they forgot to light it Sad
