We appear to have ditched opening music at the top of some of the brief weekend summaries, I guess when tight for time. We went straight to Martine Dennis just now, who immediately started the top story. It looked very much deliberate, rather than a "intro fail", if you know what I mean.

Same again today. Makes the bulletin look and feel cold, somehow. Me no like.

Can anyone shed any light on what keeps happening during Asia Business Report on Newsday?

I can never work out if they're just windows behind or screens like in London?
I ask because of this clip that makes it look like they use a screen.

They're windows, which I think are tinted to help shield excess light from getting through. It was much lighter earlier in Newsday, and at the end of WBR. I think it was just very cloudy and got a little dark, with the tint on the windows making it look more so. At the end, the view behind Sharanjit was covered in raindrops.

Edit: That video shows a new camera location they created in the newsroom for Newsday, but which doesn't get used very often. I believe that's just a sheet of glass/ perspex.

Thanks for clearing that up, I guess that's why the plasma screen appears & dissapears from the studio throughout the programme.

Here's branding for Sport Today. Let's hope they change it this week. I was hoping for better!

Notice the 'Smart TV' demo branding which the TV monitor shows when in the retail mode. Laughing

Hmm, not too keen on the Sport Today logo... overall though I think Sport has been superbly branded.

What times are the weekend evening (UK time) sports updates? I'm wondering if they could end up clashing with BBC1 bulletins

Could the NC opt out of weekend BBC One National bulletins for a longer sports update, or Sport Today?

I thought the point was they can only produce one feed out of the 'Sports Centre', which will be providing sport for BBC World News, the BBC News Channel and weekend BBC One bulletins. Therefore if BBC World News' 'Sport Today' overlapped with a BBC One weekend bulletin, one of them wouldn't get their sports news.

Though, that said, do we know for sure they can't use another gallery somewhere else at Salford? Or that one feed couldn't be produced a gallery in London with a Salford-based presenter and studio? And, also, does everything always need to be live? A BBC One sports update is pretty rehearsed - it's not like it's going to be full of breaking news.
