Remember this is the BBC World thread, so the countdown doesn't finish in London anyway.

Everything starts and finishes in London. Know your place.

The BBC is inconsistant with this. BBC Persian titles end with a picture of BH, so I don't see it as being any problem if World News ends with an exterior of BH and then a wide of the Newsroom.

However, as all previous World News countdowns have not featured TVC, I don't think they should start now. IIRC the idea of the World countdown was that it could end anywhere in the world. It is more likely World will end their bulletins with a wide of the newsroom.

For example here is a WN Countdown that I think is finishing in China....

The penultimate shot looks like China, but going by the rickshaws I'd say the footage immediately before the logo form-up is a south Asian country like India.

It's the same street Navdip Dhariwal was in just before the China stuff... India or Pakistan.

Anything special planned for the Russian Elections on Sunday, or will they just be covered in normal bulletins?

They've been running an advert with Daniel Sandford saying they'll be coverage on BBC World News, but nothing majorly specific.

Not only that, but a 30s (full half minute) extro from The World Today as well. Unheard of.

I don't know why they appear to struggle so often to get the timing right?

We appear to have ditched opening music at the top of some of the brief weekend summaries, I guess when tight for time. We went straight to Martine Dennis just now, who immediately started the top story. It looked very much deliberate, rather than a "intro fail", if you know what I mean.
