I could see that World News set being used for something like the UK Elections or the US Elections in the future...

I don't think it's big enough for the UK elections and surely it makes more sense for the US elections to come from Washington?

You know, with this move I was expecting a massive overhaul of the BBC News ident, and I mean 1999 relaunch big, do you think that might still happen?

No.

But then that doesn't necessarily mean we might get some sort of refresh. The artist impressions obviously use current branding because that's all they have to utilise. I'd be surprised if we didn't get some form of changes.

It wouldn't surprise me if they kept the current branding but changed the titles to utilise the new studios. Don't think they could get away with they brand new studios but keep the titles without altering them in some way.

At the very least I'd expect an update to the astons and an overhaul of the surrounding elements, which have never looked entirely accomplished.

Leaving what works and improving what doesn't, hopefully.

I suspect we'll get something more akin to the 2006 changes - when the new studios came in, they altered the titles to make them a bit glossier and 'open' up to the studio at the end. Barely a noticable change for most folk.

Then, in 2007, they had a complete refresh - new titles (same style, but completely new look), new audio (still in use today) and new onscreen graphics.

Either way, I can't imagine after a reported £500,000 rebrand in 2008 we'll get any major changes, but in terms of a refresh I think it'll depend on whether they want to go for consistency and continuation, or marking the new Broadcasting House with a big bang.

I'm looking forward to the almost guaranteed new end of countdown - a swoop up from Oxford Circus to Portland Place, round All Soul's and maybe via the World Plaza through the doors and into the newsroom.

I can see it now!

I never even thought of the countdown, wonder how this will pan out? (No pun intended!) Smile

I expect some of our clever resident mocksters to be out with their RC helicopter-mounted cameras tonight filming said sequence...! Wink

Complete with shots of BBC security guards with fishing nets trying to swot said helicopters from reception in BH? Laughing

Remember this is the BBC World thread, so the countdown doesn't finish in London anyway.
