Ah yes, I recall that with Ross. It was good, IMO. Can't see it right now, so will catch the next one.
The change is that Karin is sitting on the side of the desk in front of the newswall, like Mishal on Impact. This was tried out several months ago on one of Ross Atkins' weekend shifts.

If Matt is sat at the far end of the desk, almost opposite Karin, the handover must look strange with acres of desk in the middle?
AC
The handover was a two-way split screen (or whatever it's called!)

Bizarre. Wonder why he didn't sit at Position 1, allowing a proper handover or discussion.

Maybe this could be a bad idea with the move coming shortly anyway but perhaps a round desk like the one used in TC7 for the Six would be a better fit then the oval, IMO having your news reader hanging off the edge of the desk on wide shots looks silly even if it uses the back wall more effectively. ISTR they used to do this on World News America before swtiching to behind the desk.

I was just thinking the same thing actually, until I saw Dateline London on tv just now, and which is coming live from N8 today. In such a case, you would never be able to get five people around a true circle without them encroaching into each other's shots. So, I guess the current oval/eliptical desk is also used with this possibility in mind.
(Unless of course it was a very large diameter circular desk, which would probably not fit into the space available).
