Apparently, BBC World News HD is launching in the US this fall. The news was burried in a press release about increased coverage for BBC America, and there doesn't seem to be much more information available.
Do we know how BBC World News is broadcast in the US today (aspect ratio, resolution, etc)? I suspect an upscaled 16:9 576i stream will be better than whatever format they are using today.
Double heading continued with Geeta and Karin Giannone on Impact, which also ran for an ectra hour of continuous coverage of the prisoner release. Nik Gowing was solo on The Hub though. The split ticker and strap continued into the evening. I like it.
Hardly. Probably caused by video being generated elsewhere and sending it round the building causing it to drop a few lines. used to happen all the time back in 1999-2003

Used to happen all the time on World News America, as the programme was being made & edited in Washington, and London were only adding the DOG, Clock & Ticker.
Anyway, I found a video of the odd ident they used during a fault.
Sorry for being off topic.
That's not a fault at all, that's a live coverage sting. It was first used in the 1997 branding with the flags and is used to precede breaking news with a live insert, usually breaking news where it cuts live to the OB rather than breaking with a studio input.
