That set was in N9 when BBC World came from there. It directly faced the BBC World News set from that era. They used to swing the cameras around 180 degrees when needed each weekday evening. Just to the left of that set was a very small set that was primarily used for Sport Today, although BBC World's Vote 2001 programme also came from it. It had a strange desk comprised of three triangular-shaped sections, as I recall.

I think Pacific Quay has this, pity they ran out of money then.

That photo up above, is the ground floor the floor the photo is being taken from or is that the basement with the ground floor studio being the bit with the glass panels?
The bit you're looking at is the News Channel studio, the bit above behind the glass panels is, I think, the entrance from the courtyard between the old BH and the Egton wing. I think it's actually below ground level (if the entrance is above it must be!) but I suppose they're still calling it ground floor.
Oh that's a shame. I seem to remember someone on here (I think maybe Noggin?) saying a year or two back that he'd expect any modern broadcasting centre to have 'switchable' galleries.

Also the home of Zero24 - the pre-runner to the now defunct Liquid News with the late, and brilliant, Christopher Price.

Bit of a silly question here, was the thing used in them titles ever a real model/maquette and if so what has happened to it since then?
Quick question. Where was this studio?

With apologies for the tiny capture, but you might just be able to make out that Tim is wearing jeans today:

Obviously hasn't had the time to wash and iron his clean "suit trousers", due to the extortionate number of hours he spends working, so the poor chappy has resorted to wearing jeans instead. Doesn't appear to be the most professional look but as long as he doesn't do any standing presentation it shouldn't be too bad.
Wasn't there an occasion a while back where he was wearing beige trousers to present on the News Channel (don't know if it was Tim or maybe Nicholas Owen)? I think someone posted an image on here but I can't seem to find it.

Going off-topic, but news anchors have been known to wear even less than that, as this example from Slovenia so vividly illustrates:

Seeing the funniest thing now on World that I can ever recall on the channel. Lucy Hockings has a young lady as a guest in the studio, who has the biggest afro you have ever seen in your life. It brought the Impact programme to life!!
For a moment, I thought it was BIG MOIRA who was back on the news, but apparently it is a story about the Guinness Book of Records they're covering. I hope someone somewhere has managed to capture it.
