Many thanks for info. Now for some questions.

Would the virtual studio be used for Elections and stuff?

Interesting that the 6 will come from Newsroom studio as well. What about rehearsal time? Would News Channel move to Studio B?

Is Studio C therefore a newsroom studio? Will Studios B and C use Barcos?

Its all up for grabs!
The idea is that the previous posts are the 'Base' for each service - think of the studios as a suite of studios servicing all output, so expect some world strands to come from B (i.e.: GMT/Hub) thus channel could come from C while 6 prepare.
Channel could come from A (in a VR world) or something else. Or the 5 hour could come from B.
VR could record HardTalk and Newswatch - as well as doing PTC's and Election VR - its all possible and won't work the same as it does now - its a brave new world - and everything changes.

The look will be themed - it will be fully interchangeable - and will be able to flex up and down - dependent on programme requirements.

Great to know World could use other sets as well. Thanks for the info.

That sounds like a good idea, but surely at times the looks will look inconsistent if only a little?

But the flexibility, which BBC News always needs for the great range of programming it makes, is definitely something it has focussed on in this build, and only time will tell. And I'm sure this balances out the use of many studios, which will obviously reflect the change in programmes across NC and WN.

I'm very excited to see what they come up with in these studios and sets, in terms of use but more importantly design.

The News Channel currently uses three different studios with various looks (Newsroom background N6, newsroom background TC7, newsroom N8, Newsday N8, Breakfast TC7) and doesn't seem to have a problem. Similarly, N8 is used in a variety of ways these days on World, so I don't think consistency will be a problem in itself.

Would I be right in thinking at Broadcasting House, with galleries and studios separate from each other, the network bulletins could potentially come from a different gallery to the News Channel? Clearly this would assume there are to be separate crews, but if there were could that mean the News Channel move to another studio (say studio E) but stay in the same gallery, while a different gallery rehearsed for the News at Ten in studio E? Or would there be more to switching which studio a gallery controlled than flicking a switch?

No alas funding didn't allow us to have 'switchable' galleries, but they will all be kitted out in the same way - with the same layout - so it will be easier for staff to 'rotate' round and they can be flexed up - to a full gallery operation - or flexed down - to a minimal staffing model, which is something that is almost impossible now.

Like a presenting reshuffle to fit Sian into the rotas?

I know this might sound like an odd question, but will there be inject points around the building, like I believe there currently are at TVC? I'm guessing so.

Are you having similar camera setups in all the studios so that you have equal flexibility on that front in each studio?

Oh that's a shame. I seem to remember someone on here (I think maybe Noggin?) saying a year or two back that he'd expect any modern broadcasting centre to have 'switchable' galleries.

I think Pacific Quay has this, pity they ran out of money then.

That photo up above, is the ground floor the floor the photo is being taken from or is that the basement with the ground floor studio being the bit with the glass panels?
