So there's not that much left to move...

13A 4 ways and pot plants?

I wonder if we world will see more of N9 over the next year. I would imagine N8 will have to be vacated and a lot of the (useful) equipment and newsroom surroundings boxed and moved over to BH before the actual move to help set up the new news channel newsroom set as I doubt everything will be brand new. Makes me think the recent world decamp could be about getting N9 ready for a longer stint.

Even if they were moving lots of stuff, I doubt very much that they'd move World into N9 due to N8 being moved. Anything needed in W1 could be replaced by hired in kit for the duration, with say a weekend move to N9 while it's installed.

Remember when they installed the Barco's into N6, they moved the old set out into the main studio block, resulting in virtually no change on air.

Yes, also there will have to be a period of dual-running and piloting of the new studios and newsroom so even if equipment was reusable it couldn't be in two places at once.

I never worked there but the news centre setup always seemed to me as never being fully integrated operationally. They never fitted everything out from scratch, it was piecemeal with different bits working with different generations of workflow and technology. Various parts were modernised over the years but often with compromises and workarounds. Putting in a new modern, standardised system is difficult in an existing operation, but at BH that will be possible

Is it me, or are BBC World cutting down on the number of 30 minute bulletins at weekends. Far more 10/15 minutes than 30 minute bulletins. I know 50 minute programmes etc need shorter bulletins, and a 30 minute bulletin isn't needed every hour at weekends IMO, but for a full 30 minute bulletin there are some very long gaps in that schedule

Doesn't matter when I can't get BBC World, but just because CNNI have cut back weekend news doesn't mean BBC World should Wink Guess theres always the Al Jazeera Newshour Very Happy

No, I don't believe so. On the contrary, in fact. Where they used to have several 50minute programmes at weekends as pointed out by Rob, above, now there is actually more news, with various new 15 minute news bulletins (as opposed to 5 or 10 minutes previously) paired with the likes of Sport Today, Weekend World, UK Report, Reporters, etc.....

Anyone know what worlds new studio will be like? I hope even if it is a BARCO set that it is bigger and more varied than N6. I presume overnights will come from the news channels newsroom.

Presumably over-nights will be from whichever studio is the lowest cost to run/requires the least staff. Though I suppose the news channel and World could have similar setups.

The wide shot of the set looks very nice, new desk is a bit longer.

Looks great. Should be used more often.

I don't think it's a new desk. It's just got added bits at the side. You can see the gap where they've been added on, presumably for the elections so they could fit more guests.

^^^ You are correct, I can see the old desk within the new one. Here's a good pic to compare.
