I wonder if we world will see more of N9 over the next year. I would imagine N8 will have to be vacated and a lot of the (useful) equipment and newsroom surroundings boxed and moved over to BH before the actual move to help set up the new news channel newsroom set as I doubt everything will be brand new. Makes me think the recent world decamp could be about getting N9 ready for a longer stint.

One would have hoped or assumed that all the kit installed in W1 would be new, if they are just ripping half of stage 6 out it seems a bit silly. I can understand that some pieces of kit maybe useful, desks, PC's, maybe some gallery stuff but I would have hoped that the beeb would have made use of the opportunity to renew as much as needed (although I know moneys very tight with the overspend).

Apologies if this has already been discussed but looking at the listing for BBC World News on digiguide looks like a new programme starts in June called Newsday from 0100 ... live from London and Singapore

Thanks, Nicky. Are we to assume that this will be clasped together with Babita Sharma and Sharnjit Leyl, with Adnan and Rico also popping in?

Is this just a new name for bringing back WNT at 3am UK Time as well, seeing as WNT came from London and Singapore with Rico Hizon before it got stopped?

On the BBC News website, the World News listings show that every overnight bulletin will be called 'Newsday' from 13th June 2011. No info yet. Still no sign of improvements to the 2200 bulletin of World News.

Babita Sharma confirms on Twitter that she'll be doing the London end of BBC Newsday from BBC World News. Can't wait to see it. Sharanjit Leyl and Rico Hizon holding up the Singapore end of things. Let's hope they sort out that Singapore shoebox before June!

Will this be on the News Channel as well, as part of the overnights?

Perhaps you could ask Babita on Twitter if she knows about the great AY.

I would imagine the simulcasts will continue when World News and the news channel join each other at 1am UK Time.

I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on what "World Features" is - is this like CNN's taped programmes? It's a shame to see that the BBC is falling into the same trap as CNN, but at least they've still got five minutes of news at the top of every hour....

BBC World has been like that at weekends for as long as I can remember and I started watching the channel in 2000. The majority of bulletins are 30 minutes, but weekends are usually peppered with several 5 minute summaries, followed by a 50 minute feature or documentary. When I discovered BBC World, they used to have some great stuff on, including Great Railway Journeys, Rough Science, Horizon and Top Gear. It's a shame they all went by the wayside in order to make way for more news. The channel had a nice mix of programming back then.

Is it me, or are BBC World cutting down on the number of 30 minute bulletins at weekends. Far more 10/15 minutes than 30 minute bulletins. I know 50 minute programmes etc need shorter bulletins, and a 30 minute bulletin isn't needed every hour at weekends IMO, but for a full 30 minute bulletin there are some very long gaps in that schedule

Doesn't matter when I can't get BBC World, but just because CNNI have cut back weekend news doesn't mean BBC World should Wink Guess theres always the Al Jazeera Newshour Very Happy

I would be VERY surprised if much of the kit moves from W12 to W1. I would expect W1 to be HD and W12 is very SD... That means that the production kit (cameras, vision mixers, routers, servers etc.) is all likely to be retired - and a lot of it is getting on (some of the kit in the studios is 12-14 years old now) and will be well out of capital life (and probably should have been replaced already but wasn't because W1 was on the horizon).

Similarly the IT infrastructure is likely to be too old to be worth moving, and I doubt the desks and chairs would be worth moving either, and I doubt the ring main is the same technology either.

Not sure what you mean by "newsroom surroundings". They're moving to a new newsroom, which will have its own surroundings designed into it.

So there's not that much left to move...
