Good to see a double header on BBC World again. Since they ended the morning David/Lucy newshour the channel became less watchable for me.

Shoddy. Shoddy. Shoddy.

Now we again have "World Business Report with Aaron Heelhurst."

Who does the typing? Who does the checking???

Ros Atkins just started his bulletin with a plug for his Twitter account, after introducing himself. Shocked Never saw something like this, not even on Twitter obsessed CNN.

EDIT: I see now this is some kind of an experiment. Interesting.

Karin Giannone did The Hub AND the intermediate news bulletins on Friday evening. As there was no time to relocate from the newswall hub to the small pod for the next bulletin, they just did the bulletin as a close crop at the newswall but with the pod's plasma background loop, if you know what I mean. I cant help but think it would have looked better in a wide shot, rather than a close up.

The "Hub" is actually a bit too small, IMO. The small pod area is - in fact - more like a hub, in the sense intended.

Additionally, Mike Embley has hinted at yet further changes to BBC World news on his Twitter page. "More changes could be on the way."

Just watching the new double header and it seems Tanya has serious trouble at reading the auto cue with Mike when they are both in one shot. She looks like she's about to burst out laughing and is making a lot of mistakes. Not surprised Mike is the one doing most of the reading.

She was perfectly OK when I saw it a few days ago. Having said that, Tanya always appears to me that she's about to burst out laughing. Don't know why.

Edit: Geeta Guru-Murthy is on now, in the David Eades 8am slot, but seated at the main desk today, as opposed to the pod. May be expecting some studio guests later on? Otherwise, the use of the desk/pod can be quite random.

Can someone explain to me the point of World Have Your Say and The Hub. I caught these two programmes while in Japan, and when I was able to view them in english, I didn't get the point to their existence? World Have Your Say should be an hour show, in the same style as Tech News Today or TWiT (twit.tv)

Owen Thomas appeared on BBC Breakfast today. He is leaving the BBC to join Bloomberg Television in London as main anchor. He will be missed here at World.

Guess even more long hours ahead for Peter Dobbie!

He will be missed here at World.

He absoultely will be - I think we'll see more of Martine at the weekends though. What is it about the BBC and their business team - there's plenty of good presenters but they just never seem to be there!!!

I've always believed Owen is a superb presenter... but he's never had a regular slot on World. I'd much rather watch him than that dreadful Naga woman or even Zeinab Badawi (Emperor's new clothes anyone?). And now the truly awful Ros Atkins is being used. The man has no facial expression, looks terrible and can't cope with breaking news. No wonder Owen's been tempted elsewhere.

The same could be said of another of BBC World's best ever presenters - Adrian Finighan. He spent years with BBC World but never really had a slot of his own. He spent most of his time working at the weekend, like Owen Thomas, and filling in on weekday slots as and when. I wasn't at all surprised when he left for CNN. Definitely the BBC's loss. BBC World has been much less watchable since Adrian left. Owen was the best thing about World in recent times so this is yet another blow.

Many of the other great presenters from 10 years ago have also since moved on - Nisha Pillai, Keshini Navaratnam, Anita McNaught, Lyndsey Brancher, Stephen Cole, David Jessel, Philip Hayton, David Brenner, Rob Bonnet, Tim Sebastian. Now the only 'old guard' presenters left are Nik Gowing, Lyse Doucet, Mike Embley and Martine Dennis. The rest are relatively new and are, in my opinion, inferior.
