And calling it "European Breakfast" would be an instant turn-off if you were watching anywhere else other than Europe. I guess that's why they dropped the Asia bit of Impact Asia.
"BBC World News America" moves to its half-hourly format from 2nd May 2011 - these two editions will air at 2100UKT and 2300UKT.
To accomodate this change in programming, "Business Edition with Tanya Beckett" will be replaced with "The World Today with Mike Embley & Tanya Beckett" (Mike Embley will presumably take over the 0000UKT edition of BBC World News)
The Last Business Edition, and the last 1hr BBC World News America will air on the 29th April 2011.
World News America will move temporarily to 2300GMT from the 14th to the 25th of March (in its full 1 hour format) due to the US and UK Daylight Savings Clock Changes.
This infomation is taken from the BBC World News Programming Schedule (which can be subject to change, so watch this space).
Sounds great, again they will have a double headed show. Will it go for a full hour?
According to the Schedule, The World Today will be an Hour long. 2200-2300UKT.
But 2 months is a lot of time for them to change it if they want. We all know what happened to Lyse Doucet's Frontier or Frontline or Frontrow or whatever it was called.
If I am not mistaken, I believe that Martine Dennis is the only regular remaining member of the launch team? The other pioneering anchors (Nici Marx / Julian Marshall / Riz Khan) have all moved on, although Julian did appear on World up until 2009 occasionally.
Tanya Beckett may also have been one of the early pioneering presenters? can't recall.
Peter Dobbie and Owen Thomas were also pioneers. Owen said on Twitter (owenthomasBBC) that he joined in 1994, but has moved around a bit in between. Owen and Martine were both on this morning as news of the quake in Japan broke. A good team.

Indeed they were/are. I thought Martine and Owen handled the Japan BN superbly this morning. Not sure why they were taken off air, to be honest.
Lindsay Brancher was another pioneer at World Service Television.

Mike Embley suggests on his Twitter page that the new programming probably won't have two presenters, as it would not be prudent in this time of cuts. So, maybe he and Tanya will alternate on various nights?
