Out of interest does anyone in the know.. NickyS and co, know if the back wall still says "BBC News 24"? Did they change/remove it while making the other tweaks that have taken place?

It changed to BBC World when they moved into N8.....

Wait, so BBC World News is now using the midget studio for all generic bulletins and only using the huge one for branded shows?

That's what it seem like. I don't know if World News with Mike Embley will come from that side. I don't know how Zeinab and Tanya will use the set.

Lyse is going to present a new programme, to be launched in February.

A new programme aimed at a global audience, to be fronted by Lyse Doucet, is also in development and will join the line-up in February. The aim of this programme will be to provide a weekly forum for untold stories.

How will overnights work? From the main desk or that rather revolting new area? It wouldn't be bad if it weren't for those screens - yuck! Also, I don't like the colour changes in the main desk. The blue, yellows and pinks are all nice except when you see a slightly wider shot and notice the reds of the newsroom - just clashes a bit for me. I'd rather all the colours changed (though how expensive would that be!) but anyway.

I'm not sure the big desk works in that set - just seems too big if double headed presentation isn't continuing. Also, why have they put Mishal at the end of the desk like that? BBC WNA was like that for a while but looks much better now Matt/ Katty sits in the middle.

What time does it come on? I'm disappointed they didn't give Lyse Doucet more to present. One more thing I don't like is how the names of presenters are used, especially because in the end other presenters have to cover in if one of main presenters is sick.

For Mishal Husain, it's probably so that the newswall can be used as a background. Just a bit of variation in presentation.

For the new smaller set, I really don't like the screens. Are they plasmas behind the normal perspex? Perhaps they could change the existing backdrop they have on now on the screens and change it to the background they had on the screen in N9 when the News Channel was in there. It looks terrible at the moment. The shot is far too dark. The high, end shot from a few pages back from that part of the studio is good. It makes it look very big.

I agree. The new set has those screens behind the presenters. It looks horrible, and more importantly its so distracting! I rather have a clear screen behind the presenter rather than screens that keep flickering.

Do you want the globe that they use for WNT in there? I think they are using that backdrop with the feeds because when people see that they thing of the regular news on most channels in any country in the world. Even Sky new uses similar feed like that. Al Arabiya uses that too.

I see they're willing to show the link between the main set of N8 and the rest of the set. Part of me feels the large "GMT", "Impact Asia" etc. graphics would be rather irritating seen as it's even more intruding than the 2003 - 2007 tower was.

It's nice to see them using the set better and the change in colours adds (although often clashes with the red in the main newsroom - could they not install light changing boxes like in N9?). The summary set seems good although the plasmas look like they could get distracting. Maybe just keeping the projected screen from News 24 days would have been a cheaper and better solution. It will be interesting to see where the overnight/News Channel's N8 bulletin between 9:30 and 10:00 will come from.

Is there a reason why George couldn't do the news summary as well as the main bulletin on GMT?
