Some big changes with BBC World News America from late March. Moving from BBC America to PBS at new 4pmET and 6pmET time slots (9/11pm UK) in a half hour format
This leaves Mike Embley without a slot, unless he presents whatever the 7pmET/midnight UK replacement programme is. Will also impact on the domestic BBC News Channel. I guess the 9.30pm 'shared' headlines will no longer be needed. And I wonder what, if anything, will happen to the current BBC World News America showing at half past midnight?
Shame it's effectively being cut down to half an hour, even if broadcast twice. The few times they've shown the full hour here in the UK it's been really strong.
I'd imagine there will be little change here in the UK to the WNA airing - either keep it in the current 00:30 slot and just slab a "Recorded" sticker on it, or swap it with Hardtalk's 23:30 slot.
Presumably the 21:30 UK Time bulletin from N8 will be no different, with WNA between 21:00-21:30 on World, the "shared headlines" at 21:30 and then a recorded programme for World, as per the current arrangement, and the NC from N8 for half an hour.
Naga Munchetty is actually proving to be quite watchable on The World Today slot. I have just watched her and Sally Eden doing the paper review with a studio guest. It was lively, informative and jovial. I have to say: maybe Naga is actually just what the slot needs???

Komla is good as well.
Yes, she has been good - far better than she has been on the NC or Breakfast.

Agreed. This is the first time since she joined the BBC I've actually been impressed by her. I think that slot's less depressing than overnights, so she's naturally more enthusiastic and lively, and has lots of good interaction with the business presenter and newspaper reviewer. Out of interest what time does this shift end? I'm guessing it isn't just 05:00-06:00 on World News?
She does three hours, before the next presenter (Peter Dobbie in today's case) takes over from the barstools. So, Naga would be on 0500, 0600 and 0700hrs UK time. However, the accompanying biz presenter stays on for another two hours until 0930am, I think.

Happened to catch Naga this morning also! And like everyone else, was rather impressed by her! I do wonder why they haven't branded that slot...what with segments being all the rage on World now, it's surprising they haven't come up with a brand for it since TWT apparently dissapeared...surely European Breakfast would be suitable..??
