BBC World News was also in N9 yesterday (Saturday) as well. Not sure why. Maybe routine stuff.

Martine Dennis is good and one of the pioneers on World. However, Komla is growing on me too. He has quite a unique style. Naga is taking a while to grow on me.

Perhaps it has something to do with why the News Channel were in TC7 last Saturday, someone suggested some rehersals at BBC News.

Apparently they were rehearsing obituaries in N6 last Saturday.

Surely, if a death was important enough to warrant a non-domestic audience, then BBCWN would just simulcast the NC. If that was the case, would they ever need to rehearse such things in N8?

What if someone assassinated a major non UK world leader? Wouldn't they need to do coverage too?
(or as the earlier poster said, wouldn't it be a simulcast?)

Big guns on tonight. Lyse Doucet leading from Cairo and Nik Gowing live from the studio in London. Not usual to see either on a Sunday.

Lyse's portion is clearly a simulcast with N24.

Because they might be in N8 for whatever reason?

Also, seamus, please don't suggest that a single instance of N8 not being in use means that it is being refurbished. There could be a host of reasons. It is similar to me suggesting that because my local florist was shut one Wednesday morning when it is usually open, it is going through financial problems. It is more likely that the owner is ill. Or the flowers have all died. Or the front door won't open. Or the owner overslept. Or the owner won the lottery. Or the HSE have shut it down.

From February, Ros Atkins has been given a regular slot on BBC World News. He'll present a regular, weekly "World Have Your Say" on Fridays at 1500GMT-1600GMT. Poor Tim Willcox! Maybe he'll go to the stools for the headlines or something!

Also, from April, Business Edition will be back to 45 minutes on Mondays-Thursdays.

Good to see Karin Giannone on The World Today slot, alongside Juliette Foster. JC?

Yes, I saw her too - I think they're two brilliant women - interestingly enough there's been no JC "goodbye" segment - so I hope he doesn't just slither away. No mention on twitter either.

They don't tend to do that on World. I don't recall any fuss being made when other big names, like Stephen Cole, Adrian Finighan, Keshini Navaratnam, and Anita McNaught left. I do remember Adrian's last shift and he just said he was leaving at the end of his final bulletin.

That would be a shame, Chris Lowe got something - although I understand JC's not retiring. Anyway, just to point out - World News America has put in special Egypt graphics in today's opening sequence.
