Glorious day at World - BBC Persian's Pooneh Ghoddoosi is anchoring now on BBC World News. And if all goes according to plan, she will be double-heading with Lyse Doucet in around 50 minutes from now!
Both ladies very much respected at BBC World Service.
I thought 12am was BBC News on UK only usually presented by Chris Eakin and BBC World News America on BBC World News.
It was Saturday night/Sunday morning. IIRC the joint bulletins start an hour earlier at weekends
Nope, Joint bulletins run from 1am-6am every day of the week.
On Saturday and Sunday Annita & Clive finish at 12. We get the Overnight presenter (Alastair Yates) an hour earlier in the UK (presenting from N6), World still has Peter Dobbie or whoever it is presenting the 10 minute bulletin.
Whoa, did I just see a new break bumper? There was a shot from the countdown sequence, with a reporter standing on an Iraqi / Afghan street, with the red data streams over head - the camera panned around and transitioned into the World News logo. There was sound, which was taken from the 'hold' of the coming up ident...

They've been showing that during the last few days, Jarrod. Sometimes it is shown once and sometimes twice in immediate succession (with a different segment extracted from the regular countdown).
Not sure why they've introduced it. It appears quite randomly, sometimes right in the middle of a commercial break amidst other adverts.
World coming from their old studio today. They're not doing more changes to the main set, are they?
I think Peter Dobbie has fallen asleep at the desk in the normal studio, after having done the last 13 days in succession without a break! Therefore, they have moved to the old studio to let Peter have a small nap.
(or they might just be fixing the lights again and Mr. Sheening the perspex desk.......................................)
(Slight topic drift - wonder how long it will be before George becomes a lunchtime man only, and someone else takes over the Six?)
People have been speculating about that for years - even before he started on World. I don't think George is going to budge until one day he has a more regular role on the ten or retires (eventually).

I think that's now their breakfiller, I think they also used the scenes from the crap countdown and there were also some short versions...
I wonder though, what will be the difference of GMT in UK with GMT for us at World.
