Wow. That is awful. A lot of the images look like they've just been captured from down-the-line interviews rather than actually being filmed separately. Strange they've used the 2006 BBC News 24 countdown too, with an awful edit at the end.
Are the usual countdowns in circulation with this one?

By far the worst ever BBC World (News) countdown. The absolutely awful, obvious edit at the end, with a terrible choice of shots. Let's hope that once the World Cup finishes and remove the South Africa shots, they will think about doing a complete new one. I can see they're obviously pushing the branding of their anchors and big-time presenters, but that is very poor.
I can't believe this was allowed to even air. The previous one was much better. Why don't they use the proper new music, with a better choice of generic shots. Simple?!

I think it's all relative to the usual, expected standard of production - this falls some way short of that standard.
In my opinion, anyway.
Am I the only one that thinks these negative comments are a bit exaggerated!? Its bad, but not THAT bad!

I have to say it is very poor indeed, dataswoosh soundeffects all over the place, poor wipe at the end - the only good thing about it is that the sound effect 'pips' start at 10 rather than 6 - the news channel ones are far superior...
Whats stopping them putting a 'BBC World News' box logo on the countdown like the news channel do?

I agree with Damo. The countdown is not THAT bad.
Also, the David Eades comedy sketch was - IMO - a bit misplaced on an International News bulletin. It would have been ok to show on Sport Today or perhaps Weekend World, but bemused it ran as a "report" within regular news bulletins.
Lyse Doucet is brillian on The Hub.
