Dear God what have they done to those screens!!!?

Made them usable!!!?!?!

Looks like the original smart glass with a sheet of projector fabric inset to improve image quality and combat that washed out look we saw in earlier photos. When there's something projected on them I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference.

A sheet of projector fabric that looks terrible. It's not even the same size of the glass and doesn't look straight. That part of the set looks like a run down school classroom. Awful.

Just hope it's some sort of protective covering that will be removed when they go live.

Don't be silly... that's how the screen will look until the end of time... sellotaped on.

Hysterical much. Jeez get a grip Moz. Laughing

Also the set clearly is under flood lighting there so looks much nastier than it will on screen.

So it's hysterical to comment on TV presentation on a TV presentation forum now is it?

I'll treat your post with the contempt that it deserves.

No, but it is hysterical to go on a panicked rant about a piece of display equipment based on how it appears when it's off . Surely it makes sense to wait until you see it on TV, with the appropriate set lighting and with something actually projected onto it before passing judgement?

To clear something up from a few days ago, yes there was a session at Abbey Road with an orchestra. This is for the countdown - not the main news theme.

I must say you're in for a treat with the countdown!

So has the one that's similar to the Olympics closing montage been ditched?

I don't know if this was answered, but since BBC WN is scheduled to start broadcasting at 12:00pm GMT, where will WN broadcast from 05:00am onwards?

It's due to start broadcasting from its new facilities at 12:00, why do you think it won't just continue in the old one until then?

I'm just thinking that maybe during the transition period, what will they do with the satellite uplink and if there will be disruption since they will be moving from BH TOC to NBH TOC.

Red Bee (as far as can tell) are still handling the channel playout, so will just switch from the incoming N8 feed to the incoming BH-B signal, the same as they do constantly between N8, Singapore and server playout channels.

Switching the NC will be more complicated due to its lack of transmission gallery.

Yes, that would make perfect sense, but if we had to wait until we saw it in TV, it would negate most of the last 200 odd pages of this thread! It's just a bit of fun. Calm down!

Okay it is just a bit of fun and we should calm down ...but from the way you reacted, you'd think the Smartglass was covered in graffiti and on fire.

I've happened across this website. It's only got the promo video on it now, but it might be a useful resource come the 14th for those who don't have access to BBC World:

Watch this video for a sneak preview inside The World's Newsroom, the BBC's new home for international news.
