Doesn't the overnight presenter do an hour on the domestic news channel before the simulcast starts? That might be a reason to stay at TVC overnight in the short term. It also gives them a bit of downtime in case any teething troubles fixing.

No that changed since Newsday moved to an earlier time, the NC Evening presenter stays on an extra half hour. Then the channel joins the last hour of Newsday at 1am
Remember though, NBH does not start broadcasting until 12 Noon for GMT with George Alagiah.

They do at midnight on Saturday night/Sunday morning, but not on Sunday night/Monday morning since Newsday started broadcasting at 2200GMT instead - the NC presenter simply carries on through midnight so I'm sure the same will be done for Saturdays.
Looks like the original smart glass with a sheet of projector fabric inset to improve image quality and combat that washed out look we saw in earlier photos. When there's something projected on them I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference.
I know by now it's well known the schedule for moving in to NBH for news, both domestic and world, but when does weather move in. I know they mentioned it would be one of the last departments so presume after domestic news sometime late March or April??
To clear something up from a few days ago, yes there was a session at Abbey Road with an orchestra. This is for the countdown - not the main news theme.
I must say you're in for a treat with the countdown!

A sheet of projector fabric that looks terrible. It's not even the same size of the glass and doesn't look straight. That part of the set looks like a run down school classroom. Awful.
Just hope it's some sort of protective covering that will be removed when they go live.
